Friday Classics: Zao Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest

June 20th, 2008 · No Comments

Zao’s album “Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest” is a classic example of metalcore innovation. At the time, 1998, no one really was playing innovative metalcore in the Christian music scene. Branded as a Christian band, thanks in large part to their first record featuring a different vocalist, and the moniker of Tooth and Nail Records being the only label who was pushing only Christian music at the time, Zao didn’t really want to be pigeon holed, but had to just deal with it.

The timers were just different, and while many youth group’s did not embrace the vocals of …

Chinese Democracy Available Now

June 18th, 2008 · No Comments

In what was the fastest leak in centuries, the new Guns N’ Roses album leaked today onto the internet. Well, at least 9 tracks were leaked, and they were good from what people are saying. However, by the time I got the news, and was able to confirm the source, the tracks were taken down and now one blogger is famous.

Were the tracks real?

Who has them? Where are they?

All signs point towards Antiquiet.com who boasted that they have the tracks, but are now talking to the people that represent GNR! As a wrestling fan, I think this is …

Joe Strummer Documentary Release News

June 18th, 2008 · No Comments

The Clash has been gone for a long time, and few people that I personally know even heard The Mascalero’s stuff, but things are set to change very soon. The release date for the Joe Strummer documentary is July 8, 2008. For those of you that missed it when it came out, you’re going to be in for a treat. Not since “About a Son” have music fans been treated to such a cool premise, the life and times of the Clash front man.

Here is the trailer for “The Future Is Unwritten”:

Nine Inch Nails Charges For Music

June 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor really, just keeps sending out free stuff, and then following up with limited edition, signed and numbered albums for those that want a hard copy. This is genius, and is similar to what Bad Religion is doing, but I still think he’s trying too hard.

According to Pitchfork:

In the U.S., Canada, and parts of Japan, Trent will roll out an individually numbered, limited edition version of The Slip on CD. Each of the 200,000 discs arrives with a DVD of the band rehearsing Slip tracks live, plus a 24- -page booklet and stickers. (Stickers!) The set …

Head of Korn Fame Solo Effort

June 17th, 2008 · No Comments

If you’re a fan of Korn, you’ll know exactly what happened with Brian “Head” Welch. He quit the band, got saved, turned his life around and wrote a tell all book about it. Well, he’s back in the music world, and his first single is circulating through rock radio, and is now on the official Head myspace page. There is one track you can listen to, and it’s not really that great. It sounds like a Korn wannabe, but it’s essentially Korn…because it’s Head, it’s weird.

The song’s lyrics focus on drinking, and the consequences of over using Alcohol, and …

Last.FM To Stream Music Videos

June 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Word on the street is that, Universal Music and Last.fm have signed a music video deal. That’s right, the site that tracks the music that you are listening to on your computer has been finding ways to make a few bucks here and there, and now they have found a great way.

They will now stream music videos through their Last.fm on demand streaming services, which currently just has music. These videos will be ad supported and Universal will be taking a percentage of all revenue that goes through. That’s right, Universal will be getting their money’s worth, and you’ll have …

Rolling Stone Hates Pete Wentz

June 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Rolling Stone Magazine hasn’t been relevant to me in a long time. But they are getting some major press today, for dissing a new show that premiered recently on MTV. The show entitled, “FNMTV” is the brainchild of Pete Wentz, and apparently it completely bombed with critics. Rolling Stone Online has clips of the show, proving that things aren’t really that good over at the MTV zone.

I do recall watching an episode of Rob & Big, and the commercials for this show made it seem like the reality television channel was actually turning over a new leaf and going back …

Has Alkaline Trio Sold Out?

June 17th, 2008 · No Comments

First the guys in Alkaline Trio align themselves with the corporate machine known as Zumiez, but that was somewhat forgivable considering the counter culture crowd that flocked to see the Lakai team rip it up at the mall. But this…this is very interesting to say the least.

Has Alkaline Trio Sold Out?

The above shoe you are looking at is the official Nike “Alkaline Trio” shoe. Any other company right? Nike doesn’t seem to represent what I would call “punk rock” etho’s of any vein. In fact, Nike is the number one hated company amongst the scene that I remember.

But maybe times …
