Just when you thought you had everything in the Deftones world figured out, you see something a little left of center. Norma Jean, christian metalcore princes, were recently joined by Chino of the Deftones in the studio to help work on their latest album. Normally things like this just kind of fade away and people pass it off as rumors or something, but here’s video evidence of Chino in the studio helping Norma Jean with their latest studio effort. Looks like someone’s got a soft spot for christian metalcore.

Friday Classics: Zao Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest
June 20th, 2008 · No Comments
Zao’s album “Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest” is a classic example of metalcore innovation. At the time, 1998, no one really was playing innovative metalcore in the Christian music scene. Branded as a Christian band, thanks in large part to their first record featuring a different vocalist, and the moniker of Tooth and Nail Records being the only label who was pushing only Christian music at the time, Zao didn’t really want to be pigeon holed, but had to just deal with it.
The timers were just different, and while many youth group’s did not embrace the vocals of …

Trivium Finishes Recording
June 16th, 2008 · No Comments
Trivium has finished recording their next full-length album. The effort was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Danzig, Shadows Fall) and is currently being mixed. Roadrunner Records is looking to unleash this one on September 30th, but there is no name to the record yet. Hopefully it won’t sound like Metallica “light” as the last album sounded like. Trivium will hit some shows in Japan later this Summer, and most likely will have a full U.S. Tour to support the album.
Terror on Downloading Music
June 13th, 2008 · No Comments
FINALLY! A good response to the downloading music craze that has a lot of bands mad these days. I’ve been saying this for a long time, and maybe now that it is featured on Mtv2’s Headbangers Ball Blog, someone out there will trust when I say what I say about buying hard versions of music. Read what Terror’s front man has to say about this:
Sure, I would like a huge royalty check and top chart positions, but I’m a realist, and playing what we play…that just won’t happen whether downloading existed or not. I’m upset because getting a downloaded …

Norma Jean Album Cover & Tourdates
June 12th, 2008 · No Comments
Norma Jean’s new album cover artwork is here, it prominently features the title Anti-Mother, and looks really gorey. Not half-bad for the guys that have made a living with stop, go, stop, go metalcore with a christian message. (I’m a fan) If you’re not familiar with Norma Jean’s body of work, you might want to educate yourself to the metalcore stylings of one of the biggest bands in the independent circuit right now. They will be playing the warped tour main stage all summer, so you can check them out there. Here are the full list of Norma Jean tourdates, …
